Interview Details :
Deva Katta’s last film, Auto Nagar Surya did not see much success at the box office. After a brief gap, he is now back with an action entertainer Dynamite which is up for release this week. On this occasion, we caught up with the soft spoken director for a detailed interview. Let’s see what he has to say.
What was the reason in opting for a remake ?
Vishnu liked the original and asked me to watch it. It reluctantly watched the film but ended up liking it completely. I connected with the characters instantly and okayed to direct it with a lot of changes to suit the Telugu audience.
What changes did you make for the remake ?
We added some realistic action sequences and made Vishnu’s character very inspiring. He has done a superb job and will impress everyone with his stunts and new look.
Tell us about the making of the film ?
We shot the film in just 56 days and with limited budget. It was Vishnu’s planning and the way he designed the production which made things easy for me.
What is the film all about ?
Dynamite is a complete edge of the seat action thriller which will give you an adrenaline rush. The film moves through both Vishnu and Pranitha’s characters and will keep you engrossed with its proceedings.
Tell us about JD Chakravarthy’s role ?
JD has done a superb job as the villain. Once he enters the story, things move on quite interestingly. He is a brilliant actor and will shock everyone in this film.
What are the highlights of Dynamite ?
Action sequences composed by Vijayan master and the cute love story between Vishnu and Pranitha are the major highlights.
What was the reason for the delay ?
Our project was ready from a long time but we decided to hold it back because of Baahubali.
Do you look back at the failure of Auto Nagar Surya ?
Yes I do ! Auto Nagar Surya was a superbly written script but a badly executed film. I think too much was said about the failure and some wrong things were quoted against me.
Can you elaborate more ?
There were several rumours made against me that I made the film go over budget and was the sole reason for the delay and failure. But the film was shot well under 9 crores and was appreciated in certain aspects. All these issues disappointed me a lot and created a huge gap for me in the industry.
Are you more careful with your scripts now?
Yes ! From now on I will work with people whom I believe and have creative freedom. Vishnu gave me that chance and the result will speak for itself.
What are your future projects ?
I have four stories ready which are currently in the discussion stages. From now on, there wont be much gap in my films and bring you some quality product.
