To extend the benefits to all communities leaving behind the caste lines, Gujarat Chief Minister announces a huge package for students pursuing their educations.
The Gujarat Government on Thursday announced a very big package of 1,000 crore for the youth who are protesting for reservations. This decision was acclaimed to take because of the firing of Patel or Patidar community for inclusion in the Other Backward Castes to have the benefit of reservations in education and government jobs.
This scheme will start implementing in this month and it applies to the students who have secured 90 percentage in their 12 class and whose family yearly earning is less than Rs 4.5 Lakh.
The man behind the decision, Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti convener Hardik Patel commented on the package as a “Lollipop”. According to the government spokesperson Nitin Patel, the scheme will cost the state exchequer about 1,000 crore per year.
Students with 80 percentile marks in 12th examination and pursuing their diploma courses are provided with 25,000 per year or else they are given half of the course fees. Students those who are pursuing BA, BSC, B Com will get half of the fees up to 10,000 per year.
The government also passed orders to the private universities and self financing universities to charge only Rs 100 for the admission form instead of charging 1,000 and 2,000.
Students who are staying in private hostels will also be provided with 1,200 per month till 10 months every year. Anandiben Patels also introduced benefits to SC, ST and OBCs with students who are doing Medicine will be given 10,000 for one time, Engineering Students with 5,000 and diploma with 3,000 to but their books and equipments.
