The Samajwadi Party Leader of Maharashtra Mohammed Farooq Ghosi, has written a seeking letter to party’s national chief Mulayam Singh Yadav requesting Yakub Memon’s wife to allot a parliament seat.
Yakub who was hanged for participating in 1993 Bombay bombings was put in jail along with his wife Raheen. Later, she has been released from the jail. The letter reads that Raheen Memon was also put in jail for some years; she might have suffered a lot. I feel that Raheen is helpless, you have supported needy and helpless. Likewise, many Muslims in the country are today feeling helpless. We must support Raheen, making her MP so that she can raise her voice for all such helpless people.”
Speaking about Ghosi’s letter the party leaders are showing off their hands and they did not respond to his letter. While Abu Azmi the SP state chief says that “Party disowns Ghosi’s demand. We had no idea about such demand as Ghosi has not even consulted us before approaching Mulayam Singh Yadav. I spoke to him over the phone and he admitted that he wrote the letter in personal capacity. Nevertheless, the suggestion of making Yakub’s wife an MP is wrong as she is not a political person,"
