Sonia Gandhi will hold a meeting with Congress MPs ahead of the commencement of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, which is likely to be a stormy affair with the Opposition pressing for the resignations of those involved in the 'Lalitgate' and the Vyapam scam issue and the BJP government ruling out any action.According to reports, the Congress president is likely to discuss with party MPs a possible strategy to ratchet up pressure on the BJP government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the most pressing issues. The Congress party wants a discussion on 'Lalitgate and the Vyapam scam issue and even moved an adjournment motion in the Rajya Sabha in this regard. A 44 member strong Congress is unlikely to give any breathing space to the Modi government during the entire session. PM Modi has so far kept mum on the allegations against EAM Sushma Swaraj, who along with Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, has been accused of helping fugitive former IPL chief Lalit Modi. Senior NDA ministers like Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Urban Development & Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Venkaiah Naidu and many others have so far defended Swaraj in the public. The Congress led Opposition will also surely demand Prime Minister's statement on the charges against Sushma Swaraj. The Congress is also likely to raise the issue of corruption charges against three Maharashtra ministers, too, who belong to BJP. The ‘reluctant' alliance partner Shiv Sena may also embarrass the government. For the first time since he came to power in May 2014, Modi is facing a very challenging Parliament session. The Opposition parties want to put Modi government on the mat over corruption, governance, price rise, growth, security, economy and many other issues concerning the nation.
