The former Union Minister Arun Shourie speaking at a book launch programme ‘Turn of The Tortoise’, a book written by former Business Standard Editor-in-Chief T N Ninan yesterday, suddenly started making counters on the Prime Minister Modi and on his government.
Shourie said that Modi only manages to make headlines instead of economy. He also mocked the NDA government saying that it was nothing but Congress plus cow. Shourie told that PMO was never as weak as it was now.
"There is a clearer belief that managing economy means managing headlines about the economy and this is not really going to work. The way to characterize the policies of the Government is Congress scaled plus a cow. I feel there was never a weaker a PMO as now... There has never been as great a centralization of functions, not power, of functions in PMO as now," he said.
"Doctor Singh (Manmohan Singh) ko log yaad karne lag gaye hain (People have started recalling the days of Manmohan Singh). The way to characterize policies of the government is -- Congress plus a cow. Policies are the same," Shourie said.
Hitting back to his statements on Modi, the current BJP party leaders reversely commented as follows:
Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said, "This government is not weak, it is a strong government. The PM is working for the country. Opponents are not able to digest the popularity of the PM. They can't appreciate the work done by Narendra Modi. They are misleading or being mislead."
