Police try to eject ex-servicemen from Jantar Mantar

Ex-servicemen are forcibly evicted from Jantar Mantar due to the protest for One Rank One Pension.

Ex-servicemen who decided to make a hunger strike for two months were asked to leave Jantar Mantar for 24 hours until Independence Day celebrations were complete.

Many ex-servicemen are hoping to get OROP and recently socialist Anna Hazare also announced that he will be on past till government will not say ok to OROP.

This comes amid speculations that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to make an announcement on the implementation of OROP on this Independence Day.

One veteran said police were trying to clear Jantar Mantar of all protesting groups citing security risk on Independence Day. Veterans under the banner of United Ex-Servicemen Federation have been on relay –hunger strike at Jantar Mantar since 14 June protesting the delay in implementing OROP

Delhi Chief Minister is also expressing solidarity with the ex-servicemen and took twitter to express his support, “I wud urge Hon’ble PM to announce acceptance of the demand of OROP of our ex-servicemen from Red Fort tomo.”
