Nitish to meet Narendra Modi, will discuss financial issues of Bihar

Setting aside their long standing animosity, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and PM Narendra Modi will meet on Thursday to discuss the financial and development issues related to Bihar state. Nitish Kumar is expected to meet Modi at his official residence at 7 Race Course Road at 12.30 pm. The Bihar chief minister will also meet Delhi Chief Minister at Delhi secretariat at around 1.30 pm. Meanwhile, an all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, which was boycotted by the BJP, decided to "write" to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the "estimated Rs 50,000 crore loss" to the state due to the 14th Finance Commission recommendations. The meeting attended by leaders from RJD, Congress, CPI and CPI(M), decided to ask the Centre to compensate for the huge financial loss to Bihar due to the recommendations and let the special assistance being given under Backward Region Grants Fund (BRGF) continue and increase funds provided to the state.Briefing reporters after the meeting, Kumar had said "Taking everything into consideration, including the announcement in the Union Budget that Bihar will be given assistance on the lines of Andhra Pradesh, we have decided to write a detailed letter to the Prime Minister about the loss to the state due to the 14th Finance Commission recommendations."
