A major political storm has hit Jammu and Kashmir after an independent MLA from Langate Sheikh Abdul Rasheed aka Engineer Rasheed allegedly threatened BJP workers that he would hand them over to "Lashkar" in Pulwama town of south Kashmir on Thursday.
BJP leaders have demanded registering a police case against Engineer Rasheed who they accused of threatening their workers of "handing over to Lashkar-e-Taiba" militant outfit for retribution.
objected which resulted in a scuffle between the two sides. However local administration immediately stepped in and prevented the situation from escalating.
However, Rasheed during the altercation allegedly told the BJP workers that he would hand them over to "Lashkar". Later he clarified that he used word Lashkar but not Lashkar-e-Taiba. "You know what Lashkar means in Urdu. I never said Lashkar e Taiba. I have nothing to do with them", he said
BJP leaders were quick to infer that Rasheed threatened their workers to be handed over to LeT. "Our worker objected to a poster of Modi ji soaked with blood. However Rasheed's workers thrashed him. Later Rasheed threatened that he would hand him over to Lashkar which is a serious issue. We have demanded filing of FIR against him", said Altaf Thakur, BJP media in-charge in Kashmir.
Thakur said they have informed the party high command about the seriousness of the issue. "We are awaiting their response. We want police to take action against Rasheed", he said.
