The Chief Minister of Bengal Mamata Banerjee recently introduced five new districts to the state increasing them to a total of 25.

Kalimpong, Basirhat, Sunderbans, Jhargram and Burdwan industrial are the new districts of bengal state as announced by the CM.

After becoming the Chief Minister of Bengal Mamata has promised the people for creating new districts which is helpful for developing and for better administration of the public services at the remote areas.

Officials said that. “Sunderbans comprise of 19 blocks right now, out of which 13 blocks are in South 24-Parganas. While six blocks are in North-24 Parganas and all these six blocks are part of Basirhat sub-division. So, officials questioned the need for setting up of two different districts as Sunderbans and Basirhat is becoming divided in two districts, which might create administrative problem. Even the forest areas will be divided under Sunderbans and Basirhat.”

For setting up and developing the new districts huge amount funds will be released by the government said Mamata.
