Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was in danger with the comments what he had made on Muslims.
‘Muslims can live in this country but they will have to give up eating beef because the cow is an article of faith here’, are the words uttered by the CM.
The CM’s office denied the statement saying it was misrepresented. The CM office said that, "Our CM didn't say anything like this, all he said was we should respect everyone... The newspaper which has posted this news piece has tried to put words in the Haryana CM's mouth."
After, this controversial statement many of the opposition parties passed words making this a big issue.
Responding to the opposition’s words the CM said that, he did not make such statements that would have hurt anyone’s sentiments and expressed regret if anyone or any community has felt hurt.
“[The Chief Minister] said that we understand and respect the feelings of every religion and community in the society. He said that he did not make any statement which would have hurt anyone’s sentiments. However, if anyone or any community has felt hurt, he regrets for the same.”
