Coal Scam: Former India PM Manmohan Singh summoned

The former Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh ordered by Delhi court to present here on an investigation of coal scam. Along with Manmohan Singh, former Coal Secretary P.C. Parakh and industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla and others as accused in a coal block allocation scam case. All accused have been ordered by the court to appear before the court on 8th April. CBI had already sent a plea for closing the case, but it is rejected by the Special Judge Bharat Prasahar. Summoned all the accused to appear on April 8th, the next date of hearing. Manmohan Singh already questioned by CBI in the month of January about the coal field in Talabira block that was allotted in 2005 to Hindalco, whose chairman is KM Birla. The cass is related to the allocation of coal blocks to Hindalco, which is owned by Aditya Birla Group, reportedly in the violation of given rules. Reacting to the court's order, Manmohan Singh said, "I'm upset with the court's summons but it is part of life," adding, that he is open to legal scrutiny.The former PM said that he hasn't seen the court order and that he will reply after consulting his lawyers.
