Yes, this is the new rule passed by the Haryana law specifying medium of education to contest for the Panchayat Elections in the state.
The education limit for election contesting is Matriculation for the general candidates in the state and eighth standard is the limit for the people belonging to SC and ST Caste.
Especially for women in SC caste the minimum education required is she would pass class V.
Along with Haryana, Rajasthan also followed the same rule for contesting elections to the Panchayat Raj positions.
With regard to a statement, “A bench of Justice J Chelameswar and justice AM Sapre, which had in September 2015 stayed the operation of the Haryana Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Act, 2015, said there was nothing wrong in the law that was passed by the state assembly in September 7, 2015.”
Along with specified educational qualifications, in support with PM’s initiative Swachh Bharath the contestants should have toilets in their home.
And also they should not have any due of electricity bills and agricultural loans.
