After hectic deliberations since the day results of J&K assembly elections were declared on December 23, 2014, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed led Peoples Democratic Party has reached an agreement for forming a government with Hindu nationalist BJP, reports suggest. Informed sources privy to development told Kashmir Life on condition of anonymity that ‘deal has been done’. Asked about the ‘contentious issues, they said that “Yes, main agreement has been reached on the draft of the CMP (common minimum programme) on contentious issues like article 370, armed forces special powers act (AFSPA) and the plight of West Pakistan refugees. They further added that ‘the CMP is to our satisfaction’. The sources in the party told Kashmir Life that ‘official announcement about the alliance would be made on Sunday February 22’ and the “the final draft of CMP would be out in next few days.” About the government formation, they said “by the end of this month government would be in place.” Prior to swearing in, sources suggest that around February 24, Mufti Sayeed and Narendra Modi may meet. Pertinently, Mufti Sayeed would be Chief Minister of coalition for full term of six years.
