Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit on Wednesday said the Centre must follow the UPA policy and approach in dealing with Pakistan on the Kashmir issue.
" I think the Government of India must rethink its entire strategy, go back to the way in which the UPA and the Congress always dealt with Pakistan on the Kashmir issue, which was with a firm hand, yet being friendly with Pakistan. Until and unless you go back to that policy, this situation will not be solved," Dikshit told to media.
"On the Pakistan-India border, especially in Kashmir, the last few months have been disastrous. Pakistan has become very bold and they are attacking us continuously and sending terrorists into India," he added.
Dikshit said, "The Prime Minister, NSA and foreign policies have been a total failure. The prime minister thought he would give rise to a new dawn of new relations with Pakistan and control Kashmir, but has not been able to. His opportunistic alliance with PDP has been disastrous."
Dikshit was speaking as an encounter between militants and security forces was underway in Rafiabad in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla District.
The recent cancellation of NSA-level talks between India and Pakistan has escalated tension across LoC, in which two terrorists were captured alive and several civilians were killed.
