The three-member fact-finding team assembled by BJP President Amit Shah to look into the communal incident at Malda has been detained at the Malda Railway Station.

Communal violence erupted in Malda district in West Bengal on January 3 after the President of Hindu Mahasabha, Kamlesh Tiwari, made some blasphemous comments. The fact-finding team is headed by BJP National General Secretary and Member of Parliament Bhupender Yadav. S S Ahluwalia and B D Ram are also part of the team.

Meanwhile, BJP leader S N Singh took to Twitter to say that the detention of the fact-finding team shows that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wants to cover up.

"On 3rd of January, leaflets got distributed, over a lakh people got collected. The administration does not do anything. When a three-member delegation of BJP goes to Malda to know what the facts are on the ground, they are detained at the Malda station. It just goes to show the autocratic, the anarchist, and the dictatorship of Mamata Banerjee.her being blind towards the facts," he tweeted.
