A Man Behind 1993 Bombay Bombings is hanged

Birthday cake was sent to Yakub Abdul Razak Memon in Nagpur jail who was a Chartered Accountant and a Indian Terrorist who turned 53 today was hanged on 30 July 2015 in Nagpur jail at around 6:30 AM IST.

Memon was the brother of one of the main suspects in bombings Tiger Memon. Yakub’s appeals and petitions for mercy towards him were all rejected by the government and sentenced him to hanging.

Having an active part in 1993 bomb blasts by supporting his brother and Dawood Ibrahim, he has been arrested at New Delhi railway station on August 5th 1994, according to the Indian Central Bureau of Investigation. Whereas, Memon clims that he had surrendered to police on July 28th 1994 at Nepal.

Yakub was first put in Yerwada Central Jail and later transferred to Nagpur central Jail in August 2007. Being a major criminal in the prison, he had earned two Master’s degrees in English Literature in 2013 and Political science in 2014 from Indira Gandhi National Open University.

The 53-year-old man had been woken up early in the morning at 4:00 AM, allowed to take bath and provided with fresh dress. Permitted to read the Quran and offer Namaz and also given a meal of his option. After the final medical examination is done he has sentenced to death.

Prashant Bushan, lawyer from Memon’s side argued that 15 days should be given after the mercy petition has been rejected. But after 90-minute hearing the judges rejected his petition and decided to hang him.

Soon after the decision, security has been tightened all over India. Because, Punjab was already attacked by Pak terrorists a few days back.

HIs funeral is going to held at Mahim place in Maharastra with full security.
