Two Indian’s with Prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award

Former Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at AIIMS Sanjiv Chaturvedi and Anshu Gupta, Social worker and the founder of NGO Goonj are the two prides of India who have been chosen for the reputable Ramon Magsaysay Award.

The award which is equivalent to Asian Noble prize is an annual award for outstanding contributions in government service, public service, community leadership, journalism etc.

The award foundation said that Gupta was being awarded for “his creative vision in transforming the culture of giving in India, his enterprising leadership in treating cloth as a sustainable development resource for the poor.”

It also said that Chaturvedi was awarded for “his exemplary integrity, courage and tenacity in uncompromisingly exposing and painstakingly investigating corruption in public.
