Infant Gnawed by Rats in Guntur

A shocking incident took place in the Government Hospital of Guntur on Wednesday, 10-day-old baby boy was bitten by a rodent resulted in the death of the newborn.

Baby boy was born to a woman named Laxmi on August 17th at Vijayawada Hospital, but after noticing the development of some health complications the baby was shifted to Guntur government hospital for further check up.

After the surgery, baby was put in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where infant’s fingers were found bitten by rats. After complaining the hospital officials two days before the incident, they have allegedly kept rat traps.

Dr K Srinivas the Health Minister of Andhra Pradesh had sought a further report from the hospital and an inquiry was also ordered said Dr Venugopal Hospital Superintendent.
