A big question has arisen after the arrest of underworld don Chhota Rajan that who helped him to get an authentic Indian passport through consulate in Sydney.
Despite having the strict passport procedure that often leads to a delay in issuing of the passport how did Chhota Rajan manage to get the authentic passport? It is well known fact that an ordinary citizen in India despite having genuine documents faces rounds of enquiries and verification to get a passport. The passport seized from Rajan identifies him Mohan Kumar, a resident of Mandya district in Karnataka.
Mandya police conducted a special drive to verify the authenticity of the passport. According to the Hindu, after going through the records, official found that police had not issued verification certificate to anyone named ‘Mohan Kumar' in 2008.
"We had not received any application from persons named as Mohan Kumar in 2008," said Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, Superintendent of Police, Mandya.
It is still not clear whether Rajan, a wanted criminal on a red corner notice, had applied for a fresh passport in Australia or complained about a missing passport.
