Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit five major countries- Germany, France, China and Russia- in coming months. Modi himself disclosed his plans to visit France in April when French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius called on him on Thursday, telling him that he looked forward to the visit. The Prime Minister's visit to China before May 26, the first anniversary of his assuming charge, was announced by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in Beijing earlier this week. He is also scheduled to visit Germany in April to attend the Hanover fair besides having talks with Chancellor Angela Merkal. A visit to Russia is likely in July as a meeting of the BRICS (Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa) leaders is to be held there. Other countries likely to be visited by Modi include Sri Lanka. The dates are likely to be finalised after new Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena's official visit to India from February 15, his first foreign trip since assuming office in January.
