NTR is a name that does not need any introduction. Today is the 92nd Jayanthi (May 28th) of Sr NTR. We at niharonline fondly remember Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao on this occasion and pay rich tributes to his memory.
NTR was born on May 28th, 1923. With more than 300 films to his credit, he earned a demi-god status in Telugu film industry. Sr NTR continuously delivered number of blockbusters for nearly four decades. His unique acting style, and his dialogue delivery has earned millions of fans across the world. His portrayal of mythological characters like Rama, Krishna, and several other characters from Mahabharatha like Bheeshma, Duryodhana, Karna, Arjuna have carved a niche for him in the hearts of his millions of fans. Nobody knew how Lord Rama and Lord Krishna looked or talked or walked. After seeing NTR on screen, these roles have come to believe that indeed Lord Rama and Lord Krishna just looked like NTR. People of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana who watched NTR as Lord Rama and Lord Krishna have come to believe that he was the modern-day incarnation of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna. Such was his dedication to roles that he made people believe that he is indeed the incarnation of Rama and Krishna. NTR made his debut as an actor in a Telugu social film ‘Mana Desam’ in 1949 as a cop. As a cop when it was required to beat people with his stick. NTR said to have hit the people in real sense. It was said, he looked like a possessed cop. Such was his dedication to the roles and he literally enlivened it. After Mana Desam, NTR never looked back and ruled Telugu Cinema like a czar. His iconic films include Palleturi Pellam, Missamma, Gundamma Katha, Raktha Sambhandam, Badi Panthulu, Lava Kusa, Dana Veera Soora Karna and many more. He also acted in 15 Tamil films and three Hindi films and became one of the most prominent figures in the history of Telugu cinema.
After watching the misrule in Andhra Pradesh by the congress party, NTR plunged into politics to restore the lost pride of Telugu People. On that plank itself NTR rode to power in 1983 just within 9 months after establishing a political party called Telugu Desam Party, which is famously known as TDP. NTR entered politics and founded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1982 and he served as Chief Minister for three consecutive terms. His first term lasted 1½ years years from January 1983 to August 1984. He was ousted in a revolution in August 1984, but soon returned to power a month later, which marked the beginning of his second term. He remained Chief Minister for the next five years. His third and last term as Chief Minister only lasted nine months, from December 1994 to September 1995, as he was ousted in a revolution led by his son-in-law Nara Chandrababu Naidu. He died at the age of 73 due to cardiac arrest.
