Zubeidaa: The life of ill fated actress Zubeidaa Begum was reeled by Shyam Benegal. The title role was filmed on Karisma Kapoor. It has bagged national award for best feature film.

Mary Kom: The gorgeous actress Priyanka Chopra has appeared as a lead role in the biopic of the Indian boxer Mary Kom. The winner of Miss World Priyanka was well drilled in the character of Mary and did a lot of hard work to execute the role excellently. Mary Kom is the first Hindi film to be screened on the opening night of the 2014 Toronto International film festival.

The legend of Bhagat Singh: Freedom fighter who fought for Indian freedom Bhagat Singh’s biopic is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Drishyam fame Ajay Devgan was seen in Bhagat Singh avatar. Won two national awards including best feature film and Filmfare critic’s award for best movie.

Bandit Queen: Phoolan Devi’s life story was directed by Shekhar Kapur by the name Bandit Queen. She turned into a gang leader and executed rapists who have gang raped her at the age of 18. It has won National award for best feature film in Hindi, starring Seema Biswas in the lead role.

Gandhi, My Father: The Indian biographical drama Gandhi, My Father depicts the relationship between Freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi and his son Harilal Gandhi. The two characters were portrayed by Darshan Jariwala and Akshaye Khanna directed by Feroz Abbas Khan.

Bhaag milka Bhaag: This movie is directed based on the real life of the Indian athlete who was a national champion runner and an Olympian Milkha Singh. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s directorial flick is the sixth highest grossing 2013 Bollywood film worldwide. The title role was very beautifully accomplished by the famous actor Farhan Akthar.

The dirty picture: Inspired by the life of a South Indian actress Silk Smitha for her pornographic roles “The Dirty Picture” was framed. Vidya Balan was seen in sexy appeal in the entire movie. She had received many praises for her character and also called as “the hero of the film.” This film has won three national awards.

Paan Singh Tomar: It is the Indian biographical film based on the true story of an athlete and a soldier in the Indian army Paan Singh Tomar. Singh is a seven time national champion in an obstacle race steeplechase. It was directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and the title role is pictured on Irrfan Khan. This film was premiered at 2010 British Film Institute London Film Festival, also received two national awards.

Hawaizaada: Biopic of Shivkar Bapuji Talpade was directed by Vibhu Puri and named it as Hawaizaada. Ayushmann Khurrana played the lead role. Shivkar Bapuji was an Indian scholar who have constructed and flown an unmanned plane.

Sardar: Indian biopic on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, great freedom fighter. This film is also directed by Rang Rasiya’s director Ketan Mehta. Reel Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was Paresh Rawal.

Shahid: Movie built from the life story of an Indian Lawyer and Muslim rights activist Shahid Azmi. Shahid was arrested under TADA and was tortured and forced to admit the crime. It is directed by Hansal Mehta and produced by Anurag Kashyap. This film was premiered at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. Title role was overtaken by Rajkumar Rao.

Rang Rasiya: Film was pictured on the life of 19th century Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma. Ketan Mehta’s directorial stars Randeep Hooda and Nandana Sen in the lead roles. Film was screened at The Times BFI London Film Festival. Randeep Hooda was appreciated a lot for his performance in the flick.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero: Biographical movie based on the real life of Independence leader Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Shyam Benegal is the director and Sachin Khedekar is the reel Chnadra Bose.

Mangal Pandey: The Rising: Indian soldier who is known for his role in Indian Mutiny of 1857 Mangal Pandey’s biopic was directed by Ketan Mehta. Mangal Pandey’s role was played by Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan.

Jodhaa Akbar: The epic biographical film was filmed on the life of Muslim Mughal Emperor Akbar and Hindu Rajput Princess portrayed by Hrithik and Aishwarya. This was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. It was nominated at 3rd Asian film awards.

Guru: Maniratnam’s flick Guru is the real story of the business magnet and Reliance Industries founder Dhirubhai Ambani. Abhishek Bachchan was seen in a title role along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and many hit stars. It was premiered at Elgin Theatre in Toronto.

Aamir khan is all set to essay the role of former wrestler Mahavir Singh. Sushanth Singh Rajput will be seen in M.S. Dhoni’s biopic M.S.Dhoni: The Untold Story.
