Bollywood actor Anupam Kher and Congress leader and Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor indulge in a Twitter war over the former’s comments that he is scared to openly say he is a Hindu.

In an interview with Bhupendra Chaubey on a TV channel, answering a question Kher had said that sometimes he felt scared to admit that he was Hindu, drawing strong response from people on social media. Anupam Kher was accused of playing the victim and undermining the real issues. Shashi Tharoor commented on Kher’s remark on the social media.

Reacting to Kher’s comments, Tharoor said on Twitter, “Come on Anupam. I say it all the time. I’m a proud Hindu. Just not the Sangh’s kind of Hindu. @AnupamPkher”.

Reacting to Tharoor’s tweet, Kher responded rather acidly , “Come on Shashi. Never thought you will misinterpret my statement like trolls do. And behave like a Congi Chamcha.”

Undoubtedly, Kher had crossed the line by making derogatory comment against Shashi Tharoor.

He responded to Kher’s ‘Congi chamcha’ attack with a flair way, saying, “Abuse, @AnupamPkher , is what you use when you run out of arguments. I’m a proud MP of @INCIndia &I don’t resort to insults. #CongiChamcha”.

Quoting 59-year-old Tharoor's tweet, Kher replied, "Sadly, you forgot that you brought in your kind of Hindu & Sanghi Hindu first.
