In the aftermath of the recent revelation of Panama Papers, Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan’s appointment as a brand ambassador of ‘Incredible India’ has been put on hold. The decision of Amitabh Bachchan’s appointment was supposed to take this month. But after a huge revelation in Panama Papers leak the process of appointment had stopped.
According to sources, the decision is kept on halt and Bachchan will only be appointed as a brand ambassador of ‘Incredible India’ or ‘Atulya Bharat’ once he is given clean chit in the matter. The report further suggests that the delay in the decision has been taken due to his name in the Panama Papers leak.
The Panama Papers leak is one of the biggest leak in the history of corporate tax evaders. The leak set of 11.5 million confidential documents that provided information of around 214,000 offshore companies listed by Panamanian corporate law firm, Mossack Fonseca. The leak included the identities of shareholders and directors of the companies who had allegedly parked their money outside the country in tax heaven country Panama, to evade tax in their country.
A day after Big B’s named appeared in a top newspaper he issued a statement saying that his name was “misused” and he was not aware of any of the companies mentioned in the reports. After the leak Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ordered an investigation into the 500 Indian’s named in the Panama Papers.
