Kings XI Punjab pulled off a miraculous victory through Super Over to hand Rajasthan Royals their first defeat of Indian Premier League 2015 after the teams produced an astounding 382 runs in 40 overs on a belter of a track at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Needing 16 for victory - actually 15 would have done because they hit more boundaries in regulation play - Rajasthan Royals lost Shane Watson, yorked first ball by Mitchell Johnson and James Faulkner was run out by wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha off the third legitimate delivery to complete a fascinating win and spark off celebrations in the Kings XI Punjab camp. For much of the game, it appeared as if the Rajasthan Royals would remain unstoppable and secure their sixth successive victory but David Miller's powerful riposte (54, 30 balls, one four, five sixes) added to Shaun Marsh's splendid 65 (40 balls, five fours, three sixes) and useful contributions by Wriddhiman Saha, Mitchell Johnson and Axar Patel pushed the game into the Super Over. Marsh, playing his first game in IPL 2015 and Miller, staging a comeback after missing a game, played superb hands with half-centuries during the chase for victory on a good batting track. Miller was spectacular with his strokeplay, making the Rajasthan Royals attack look inadequate. With crucial contributions from the late order, they managed the tie. The owner of the Orange Cap, Rahane consolidated his position at the top the run-scorers' list with his third successive half-century.
